A modern solar system can do much more than generate electricity during the day. With battery storage, you can store excess solar energy, power your home after sunset, keep essential appliances running during blackouts, and even charge an electric vehicle using your own solar energy.
One system gaining attention in Australia is SigenStor Home Battery — an all-in-one home energy solution that combines solar, battery storage, backup power, smart energy management, and EV charging in a single modular platform.
At EcoBridge Solar, we help homeowners design complete solar and battery solutions that maximise energy savings, improve energy independence, and prepare homes for the future.
Here’s everything you need to know before deciding whether SigenStor is the right battery system for your home.
What is SigenStor?
SigenStor is a modular residential energy storage system designed to integrate multiple parts of your home’s energy setup into one smart ecosystem.
A typical SigenStor Home Battery installation can include:
- Solar panel integration
- Battery energy storage
- Hybrid inverter technology
- Smart energy management system
- Backup power for outages
- EV charging capability
- Mobile app monitoring and control
Rather than purchasing separate products for solar, battery storage, and EV charging, SigenStor allows these components to work together through a single intelligent platform.
This makes it suitable for homeowners who want an energy system that can grow with their future electricity needs.
How Does SigenStor Work?
During daylight hours, your solar panels generate electricity.
The system prioritises powering your home first. Any surplus solar energy is stored in the battery instead of immediately exporting it to the electricity grid.
When solar production decreases in the evening, the battery supplies stored energy back to your home.
Simple Energy Flow
Solar Panels → Home → Battery Storage → Home
If your battery is fully charged, excess solar energy may be exported to the grid, depending on your retailer and system configuration.
The goal is to maximise your home’s use of self-generated solar energy and reduce reliance on grid electricity.
Why Install a Home Battery?
Most Australian homes use the majority of their electricity in the late afternoon and evening — exactly when solar generation begins to decline.
A battery helps bridge that gap by storing daytime solar energy for later use.
Benefits may include:
- More solar self-consumption.
- Reduced evening grid usage.
- Lower exposure to rising electricity prices.
- Greater energy independence.
- Optional backup power during outages.
The ideal battery size depends on your household’s actual electricity usage rather than simply choosing the largest battery available.
SigenStor Backup Power During Blackouts
SigenStor Home Battery can be configured to provide backup power during grid outages.
Depending on your installation design, backup can support:
- Essential circuits only (lights, fridge, internet, power points).
- Multiple household circuits.
- Larger whole-home backup configurations where appropriate.
Backup performance depends on:
- Battery capacity.
- Inverter configuration.
- Electrical design.
- The appliances connected to backup circuits.
If blackout protection is important, your installer should design the system around the appliances you want to keep running.
Solar Battery + EV Charging in One System
Electric vehicles are becoming one of the largest electricity loads in Australian households.
SigenStor integrates EV charging with your solar and battery system, allowing smarter charging strategies.
Potential charging options include:
- Charging directly from excess solar.
- Scheduled charging during low-cost tariff periods.
- Battery-assisted energy management.
- Smart charging through the SigenStor app.
This helps homeowners make better use of their solar production while managing household energy demand.
Modular Battery Storage That Grows With Your Home
Unlike fixed-capacity batteries, SigenStor uses a modular design.
This allows homeowners to start with one battery capacity and expand later if energy consumption increases.
For example, your household may add:
- An electric vehicle.
- Additional air conditioning.
- A pool pump.
- Electric hot water.
- More family members or appliances.
Instead of replacing the battery, additional storage modules can be added where appropriate.
Is SigenStor Suitable for Larger Homes?
Larger homes typically consume more electricity due to:
- Multiple air conditioners.
- Pool equipment.
- Electric hot water systems.
- Home offices.
- EV charging.
- Larger families.
For higher-energy households, a larger battery may provide better evening coverage — provided the solar system generates enough excess electricity to charge it.
Battery sizing should always be based on energy usage, solar production, and backup requirements.
Can You Add SigenStor to an Existing Solar System?
Yes — many homeowners already have rooftop solar and want to add battery storage.
Depending on your existing setup, SigenStor may work with your current solar system, although additional equipment or electrical upgrades may sometimes be required.
A compatibility assessment should review:
- Existing inverter.
- Solar system size.
- Switchboard.
- Electricity meter.
- Single-phase or three-phase supply.
Choosing the Right Battery Size
There is no one-size-fits-all battery for Australian homes.
The right battery depends on several factors.
| Factor | Why It Matters |
| Daily electricity usage | Determines how much stored energy your home needs. |
| Solar system size | Influences how much excess solar energy is available to charge the battery. |
| Evening energy consumption | Higher evening usage may increase battery value. |
| Backup requirements | Essential loads require different battery sizing than whole-home backup. |
| Future energy needs | EVs and additional appliances may increase electricity consumption over time. |
A personalised assessment using your electricity bills provides the most accurate recommendation.
What Should Be Checked Before Installation?
Before installing SigenStor, your property should be assessed for:
- Solar system compatibility.
- Inverter setup.
- Switchboard condition.
- Meter configuration.
- Battery installation location.
- Available wall or floor space.
- Cable routing.
- Single-phase or three-phase power supply.
- Backup circuit requirements.
- Current and future electricity consumption.
- EV charging plans.
Every property is different, so installation requirements can vary.
Is SigenStor Right for Your Home?
SigenStor may be a suitable option if you:
- Already have solar and want battery storage.
- Are installing a new solar and battery system together.
- Want to reduce electricity purchased from the grid.
- Need backup power during outages.
- Own or plan to buy an electric vehicle.
- Want a scalable battery system for future energy needs.
- Have medium to high household electricity consumption.
The best configuration depends on your home’s energy usage, solar production, and electrical setup.
